After sharing the womb with another tiny human, I made my entrance into the world a whole ten minutes ahead of my womb-mate. I win! When my twin sister finally decided to show up, we were taken back to our home just outside of Seattle, Washington. While she was busy hanging out with friends and being popular, I spent my time reading every book I could get my hands on and writing poetry, songs, and short stories.
When I was nineteen, I had minor heart surgery, and needed several ultrasounds leading up to it. I was fascinated by each ultrasound I had (seeing inside the body is SUPER cool), and went on to graduate from Seattle University with a bachelor of science in diagnostic ultrasound. I practiced ultrasound for five years until my shoulder crapped out on me and I couldn’t do it anymore. So me and my injured shoulder went to a small startup, where I managed our brand personality, blog, social media, and public relations.
I wrote my first novel in the evenings and weekends while working full-time, and I haven't stopped writing since. I am now a full-time writer, and I still pinch myself every day to make sure it’s real. (It is, I just checked.) I mentor in Pitch Wars and am extremely passionate about helping other writers learn and gain confidence in their craft.
I live with my husband in Seattle, and we read and hike and drink lots of tea together, and it’s truly the best thing ever. Being married to him is my favorite thing. My other favorite things include fashion, tattoos, lipstick, and macaroni and cheese from a box. I’m also a big fan of red wine and my dog, Doppler. My family is the most important thing in the world to me.
